Volunteers Needed: First United Methodist Church

posted Mar 21, 2019, 11:51 AM by Kesha Simmons

Read below for a message from Emily Claycomb:

The GEMS Ministry at First United Methodist Church is in need of high school volunteers on Friday, April 12,

5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.  This is a Parents' Night Out for children with special needs and their siblings (At 5:00, there is a brief training all volunteers need to be present for.  The children will start arriving around 5:30).  We need youth volunteers just to be there to play with the children, help them with the craft, hunt Easter eggs, and to basically assist them with the various activities throughout the evening.  There will be children with special needs there as well as typical children (siblings).  The children range in age from 3-14.  The more "involved" children (which is only about 5 children) will have a one-on-one adult with them as well.  This night is a lot of fun for the participants and volunteers alike.  If you have questions, please call or text Emily Claycomb at 318-518-7960.  Thank you!!

The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. In 2018, the YWCA opened FAB Finds Resale Shop in Mall St. Vincent (near the Dillards end of the mall) to help raise funds for the organization.  With the proceeds from this venture, The YWCA of Northwest LA will be able to serve more women and girls in the community who are in need of counseling and support services.

Our new resale shop needs volunteer support to help process donations and assist in the shop.  Fab Finds is open 7 days a week, so volunteer shifts are available after school hours and on the weekends.  To volunteer, please contact store managers Christina or Yvette at 318.751.9054, or Executive Director, Dr. Belinda Roberson, at 318.550.4417.
